New U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated Wednesday. Core national interests will be pivotal in American diplomacy. This comes as President Trump begins another term in the White House.
Rubio is the first of Trump’s Cabinet selections. He has passed Senate approval and is set to assume office. In a mission statement, he articulated U.S. spending. It should be backed by a response to three basic questions. Does it make America more secure? Does it make America robust? Does it make America wealthier?
He added that to promote the American national interest they will institute a more innovative State Department. Also, a nimble and focused one. Some priorities will need to be replaced. Some issues will need to be given less emphasis. Some practices will need to be eliminated.
Rubio at the age of 53, repeated Trump’s earlier pledges. These pledges aim to halt massive flows of illegal migrants into the U.S. "State Department won’t support activities that fuel or advocate for mass migration anymore," Rubio stated.
"Diplomatic ties with other nations particularly in Western Hemisphere, will focus on securing America’s boundaries. We aim to halt illegal and unsettling migration. We will also discuss the return of illegal migrants to their homeland." The discussions will take place with Western Hemisphere countries.
He continued. The State Department will cease its attempts to foster diversity, equity inclusion in hiring. This decision is in tune with orders given by Trump on his first day in new term.
"This order will be carried out dutifully observed in both letter and spirit," Rubio confirmed. "We should recognize performance and merit."
In terms of foreign policy efforts we need to return to basis of diplomacy. The focus currently is on political and cultural causes. This focus is divisive domestically and extremely unpopular internationally. Eliminating these will permit us to conduct a practical foreign policy. One in collaboration with other nations. The aim will be to advance our fundamental national interests.
He added that within U.S. “censorship and suppression of information” should cease and "we need to refocus on truth.” Rubio stressed on "the core truth" that America is great. He mentioned that America is fair. Its people, he said are generous. The country's leaders, he added have started to prioritize the interests of Americans first. They also have been seen to respect other nations’ rights and interests.
Trump revealed will withdraw United States from Paris Climate Agreement. This move will see the U.S. join Iran, Libya and Yemen as only countries that formally don't adhere to agreement. Agreement limits global warming. Rubio noted State Department has mission. It is to use diplomacy to aid President Trump. Trump seeks to fulfill his promise. His promise is a return to American energy dominance.
In current resurfacing great power rivalry Rubio expressed his plan. Plan is to empower talented diplomatic corps. They are to advance mission. The mission is to make America safer, stronger and more prosperous. Rubio said this.
